Wow, it’s been a while since I updated this. It’s been a combo of lazy and busy with other things, but hey, I’m still floating around a bit. I can’t really say there’s too much at the moment going on that I’m interested in writing about… mostly just more of the same, but I suppose I can update a little bit about what I’m up to, and spoil a few things I hope to release this weekend or the next. So let’s get started.
Haven’t updated in a while because I’ve been busy with quite a few different things. Some of them big, some of them small. Hopefully I’ll have quite a bit of awesome and unique stuff out for everyone in the next few weeks (but don’t really hold your breath). Even so, this has been a pretty big week for the RM community. Here’s just a quick highlight.
First of all, the RM Coalition has released it’s third resource collection. While the previous packs have been focused a bit more on music, this one packed full of graphics and some scripts. These include a few scripts from both Dekita and myself, a few new autotiles from Hyde, and a god awful amount of graphics for ShinGamix from game over screens to window skins, among some other contributions. For the full list or to download the pack, check it out over here.
Here’s to wishing everyone a Happy New Year and many more to come! Yeah, that’s really all I have to say on that matter.
Down to business. No, I didn’t forget I said I would like to update with a new script every Sunday, but with my current workload it’s not entirely possible at the moment. None the less I still released 2 scripts last Sunday and have another one in the works. Aside from this there are a few other fun things going on including the Game Making Drive 2013. Anyway, let’s get moving right along.
Alright, so let’s see how long I manage to keep my promise of a new script every Sunday. I’m not sure it will last too long, but there’ll be a few good ones coming out while it does. Aside from that I have another spoiler screenshot for the RM Coalition release in the next few days. Still have a LOT of work to do to finish those up.
So today I finally release my terrain tags script. This script allows you to tag tiles with regions to give them a few new properties such as being able to walk under them or climb them like stairs. It’s pretty cool for making dynamic environments if you know how to use it.
If you’d like a copy of this script or want to try it out, you can get it right over here or from the script listing page.
Been a while, but it’s been an exciting week (or month) and there’s still more to come in the upcoming days. We had box sets of Ace released, Ace released on Steam, and the RM Coalition is going to be releasing it’s December Pack a little bit later this month with more details to come on that. In the midst of all this excitement, RPG Maker Web is having a sale all month long on it’s resource packs with a different pack discounted each day. Alright, so let’s get started with a general rundown one by one, starting with none other than Ace box sets.
EDIT: Oh, hey, I forgot I also wanted to talk about something else I’m working on now, the RM Coalition. I’ve added that extra info to the end of this post.
I sometimes forget I have a blog, though I do enjoy making new posts on it. Anyway, Archeia’s had this little game making drive thing she’s working on and I’ve been posting my script updates in it. So far I haven’t really gotten anywhere, but this week I actually released to scripts and still plan to release two others very shortly. Anyway, about these two scripts. These scripts are a rehash of my battle pop-up script and a totally new enemy scan screen to replace the features lost from the pop-up script.
Other than this, Yami has begun looking into different battle systems and even commented on the one I made! So, let’s get this started off with the updates….
So rpgmakerweb wants me to make a blog post gushing about the rpg maker series. I don’t really like gushing, but I do like free stuff, and I feel like it’s time I told people a little about myself (like that will ever really happen). Nah, really though, I had been planning to talk a little about my RPG Maker hobby at some point.
Anyway, as a kid I pretty smart and always learning. I had a great imagination and came up with all sorts of different playground games that we played at school. At home I read just about everything I could get my hands on (I was able to read at just 4 years old). At 8 I started really getting into computers, though it wasn’t until 12 that I started to program. Still, I was just a kid and by no means had the abilities to make any of the games my friends and I had come up with into a reality.
(Oh god, you mean there’s more of me talking?)
Finally got around to finishing my battle engine. It’s not getting any negative reception, so that’s good news. Anyway, I love how it turned out. It looks really good with these battlers, too. Gotta credit Archeia and Penta for those. Anyway, for a copy of this script, head on over here.
And for my next trick: http://i.imgur.com/Zlv8d.jpg
The image is pretty big so I don’t want it screwing anything up. It’s done, just not quite ready for release. What is it? Random dungeon generator of course. Only took me a few hours to make once I knew I could make it.
Anyway, I’m still too lazy to put all my scripts over here, so I’ll touch one or two at a time until I get them all up.
And while I’m posting stuff, might as well show off the work in progress script I’m going to be releasing in the next few days, my fancy new battle engine. So then, here are a few screens of it in action.
So I finally decided it would be a good idea to begin hosting my scripts, any related updates to them, and just generally anything else I’m working on a blog, so here it is. For those of you who don’t know me, my name is CP though I’m probably more commonly known by my online username Neon Black on the rpgmakerweb.com official forums and the related irc. Though I had kinda intended to be a developer when I got RPG Maker VX, my love of editing turned me more into a scripter and I released a few scripts. Nothing too interesting, just a few little silly things. After a while they got more complex and now everyone seems to think I’m a scripter. No harm done. In any case if it’s the only thing I’m good at, might as well roll with it and see where it takes.
So anyway, as I mentioned I’ll be posting my scripts here and such and trying to keep up to date with what I’m up to as far as RPG Maker and perhaps other things as well. Enjoy!
